OC Youth Sports • Tournament of Champions is a school-based series of tournaments that features soccer, flag football, basketball, and volleyball. Events in the series include Volley Fest in November, Harvest Cup in December, Winter Bowl in January, and Hoops Classic in March. Tournaments use a “Pool Play into Bracket Play” format, and the Hoops Classic tournament is played across two weekends, with pool play followed by bracket play.
• Ages: 4–17 years old
• Price: Registration Fee: $70.00 across all events/tournaments (no additional processing fees).
Over the course of the year, schools are awarded points based on their performance in each tournament, and at the end of the year the school with the most points is presented with the Champions Cup to display at their school. Each school may submit a maximum of two teams per division for most tournaments, and for Volley Fest, schools may submit two teams per grade in combo divisions such as Girls 7th–8th, allowing up to four teams per school in those divisions. All participants receive a performance jersey for Volley Fest and reversible jerseys for Hoops Classic, Winter Bowl, and Harvest Cup, and all participants are required to wear the jerseys provided by OC Youth Sports, with no custom jerseys allowed. For equipment and uniforms, “away” jerseys or custom school shirts are no longer required because jerseys are provided by OC Youth Sports. Staff run a scorers table for Volley Fest championship games, there are two referees for bracket play in Hoops Classic, and there are two referees for all games in Winter Bowl and Harvest Cup.
The OC Youth Sports • Tournament of Champions raises funds to support the Irvine Public Schools Foundation (IPSF) and Tustin Public School Foundation (TPSF). Ten dollars from every player registration is donated to either IPSF or TPSF, depending on the student’s school district.
