Idyllwild Arts Summer Program offers a wide variety of art workshops in all art disciplines for kids, teens, and adults. Kids, teens, and adults explore their creativity in an artistic and welcoming environment through programs and workshops for all ages and abilities.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
Idyllwild Arts Summer Program includes Kids & Teens (Ages 5–17) and Adult (Ages 18+) programs, with separate contact emails for the Summer Program for Kids & Teens and the Summer Program for Adults. Transportation is available via campus vans from Ontario International Airport or Palm Springs Regional Airport to Idyllwild, with arrangements required in advance.
Idyllwild Arts states that its mission is changing lives through the transformative power of art and that it believes art is the greatest teacher of humanity. Idyllwild Arts describes itself as an intentional community that welcomes different life experiences, perspectives, identities, cultures, abilities, and languages, and notes that students hail from over 30 countries, forming a global, multicultural community. Idyllwild Arts has been anchored by the generosity of supporters for eight decades. Pamela Jordan is the President of Idyllwild Arts and hosts the podcast “One World. One Idyllwild. The Series.”
Idyllwild Arts is ranked by Niche as the #1 High School for the Arts in America and is accredited by WASC, the California Association of Independent School Associations, the National Association of Independent Schools, the Council for Advancement & Support of Education, NBOA, TABS, Western Boarding Schools Association, The Enrollment Management Association, GAP YEAR Association Member, and the National Association for Music Education. Idyllwild Arts is the only residential arts high school in the country to offer a Native American Arts program. The Native American Arts Center hosts year-round workshops and produces the Native American Arts Festival Week each summer, which includes performances, demonstrations, films, and the Michael Kabotie Lecture Series. Idyllwild Arts offers a Semester Exchange Program as an immersive, single-semester experience.
Idyllwild Arts respectfully acknowledges the Qawishpa Cahuillangnah (also known as Cahuilla Band of Indians) and all nine sovereign Bands of Cahuilla people who have stewarded this land throughout the generations and continue to steward this land for all future generations, and notes that the Living Land Acknowledgement was developed in partnership with and approved by the Cahuilla Band of Indians Tribal Council in 2019.
Parents, students, alumni, trustees, and faculty describe Idyllwild Arts as a place with a beautiful campus and forest surroundings, kind teachers, and a warm and welcoming environment, and they report seeing development and confidence in students, as well as a multidisciplinary approach that is deeply rooted in the school’s setting.
