Irvine School of Music offers individual and group music instruction, including piano lessons, voice training, violin lessons, drums lessons, guitar lessons, flute lessons, saxophone lessons, and clarinet lessons. The program also offers Pre-K courses, preschool piano and music classes, Music Fun Time, a children’s choir, a guitar group, duo classes, and exam preparation.

Irvine School of Music was founded in 2004 and has been teaching music in Orange County, CA for 20 years. Its mission statement is, “Teaching and providing the skills for a lifetime is our focus. Enjoyment of music is our mission.” The school offers Summer and Winter concerts at local venues, as well as world class concerts on stages such as Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, Segerstrom Center for the Arts, and Colburn School.

The faculty includes more than 25 highly qualified teachers with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, many with Master’s or Doctorate degrees, and Royal Conservatory of Music certified instructors. Teachers are university trained, hold affiliated school district credentials, and include credentialed teachers from some of the best school districts in California. Faculty receive ongoing teacher training, including early childhood music education and teaching students with learning disabilities, teenagers, and adults.

Irvine School of Music offers a core curriculum that integrates healthy technique, listening (aural skills) development, and theoretical knowledge, along with a 24-Medal Level Curriculum and enrichment programs with optional sequenced performance opportunities and medal-level programs. Lessons are catered to each musician’s unique goals, with warm and custom instruction, and include guitar lessons in styles such as rock, jazz, classical, blues, pop, Spanish, and chording, as well as voice lessons in Pop, Classical, and Broadway styles. Violin lessons can be taught in the Suzuki method, traditional method, or a combination of both.

The program includes preschool piano and music classes for ages 3 to 5 that use percussive instruments, stories, pictures, animals personifying musical concepts, and games, and a children’s choir for students ages 5 and above that provides a strong vocal and musical foundation and builds teamwork and social skills. Incentive programs include practice incentives such as token weeks for students to earn prizes for completing homework, and in-home practice motivation. Digital tools such as Opus1.io and LessonMate.org are used for scheduling, recorded lessons, practice assignments, and medal level tracking.

Families can enroll in month-to-month lessons at prorated tuition with no long term contracts, and lesson coordinators are available 7 days a week. The program offers convenience and flexibility for scheduling makeup lessons and is family friendly for multiple members. Besides tuition, families also need to purchase a set of instruments, including books for homework. Irvine School of Music offers a Happiness Guarantee stating that if students do not love their lessons, the school will find a better fit.

Irvine School of Music has been voted 2022’s Best Music School in Irvine, CA by Quality Business Awards and voted Best Music Lessons by Parenting OC’s Reader’s Choice Awards in both 2022 and 2023. The school is involved in the Orange County community and has partnerships with preferred vendors such as Hollywood Piano in Santa Ana, Guitar Center in Fountain Valley, Mo’s Music in Fullerton, and Weisshaar M&R Violin in Costa Mesa. The Mayor of Irvine from 2008–2012, Sukhee Kang, has provided a commendation quote for the school.
