Kare Youth League Year-round Program is part of Kare Youth League, a non-denominational Christian organization whose purpose is to provide a wholesome environment where a child can grow, make choices, develop character, build confidence, and shape their future. Its mission is to teach children to love God, care about others and plan for their future through a year-round program that uses a competitive team environment coupled with strong character training. Children in the program receive weekly Bible lessons at team club meetings, are encouraged to be honest, obedient and respectful, are taught to honor their parents and to use proper language, and are welcome to join at any time during the year.

Each child plays on a team and participates in different sports spread throughout the year, and children grades Pre-K to 6th are guided through all activities by the same leader for a year or more. Children also attend summer and winter camps at Mount Kare, a privately owned and operated organizational camp nestled among the pines in the Angeles National Forest near Wrightwood, and take outings to places like Dodger Stadium or amusement parks. The program does not allow parents to coach but encourages them to cheer from the sidelines, and over 50% of leadership services are provided by volunteers who donate an average of 10–20 hours per week.

Kare Youth League has served the greater San Gabriel Valley and the Inland Empire since 1931 through a uniquely designed program integrating athletics, camping and educational experiences. In 1931, founder Orrick W. Hampton met with a small group of teenage boys in East Pasadena, and in October of that year the Boys’ Christian League (later Boys and Girls’ Christian League, and eventually Kare Youth League) was formed. The organization has grown steadily since 1931, and the Kare Youth League Promise and Laws, adopted at its founding, continue to serve as guideposts. Member families represent a wide socio-economic spread, and ethnic diversity closely reflects the communities served, with the service area stretching through the San Gabriel Valley roughly between the 10 Freeway and the Foothills.

The program operates on a minimal fee structure and is funded by a contribution plan, where families are allowed to participate fully regardless of donations contributed. Additional offerings connected to Kare Youth League include a full camping program at Mount Kare near Wrightwood, two college-prep schools (Rio Hondo Preparatory School and Pearl Preparatory School) educating children in grades K–12, and annual summer tours across America and Europe. Staff in the program are certified in both CPR and First Aid, and PK boys and girls must turn 4 years old before 9/1/25 or they have to wait until September 2026 to sign up.
