Surf instructors and certified lifeguards are present the whole camp day and follow a ratio of three children to every one adult when campers are playing in the ocean, and all campers who wish to go in the ocean must pass a swim test on the first day of the session. Aquatics Camp focuses on fun and games in the pool and requires campers to pass a swim test in order to participate. Gymnastics Camp provides expert coaching from experienced staff in a positive and non-competitive environment, and rock-climbing, gardening, hiking, and basic outdoor skills are taught by counselors and Outback professionals. Archery equipment, fencing equipment, and pickleball and badminton racquets are provided, and some tennis racquets are available, with campers encouraged to bring their own. Robotics campers build a functional robot made of Legos that will compete in an end-of-session contest, and Dance Camp ends with a routine performed live on stage or captured in a keepsake video for family and friends. Work created during Handbuilding with Clay is available for pick-up in 3 weeks to allow for drying time and kiln firing. Racquet Sports Camp is non-competitive and introduces tennis, pickleball, and badminton in a small group atmosphere. Leadership Camp is designed to capitalize on the environment of Knock Around and offers activities aimed at challenging campers and propelling them into leadership opportunities through team exercises, specially designed challenges, and hands-on mentorship with Knock Around campers. By blending scheduled activities with free-time play, Knock Around Variety Camp provides children the opportunity to learn new skills, develop game strategy, and engage in positive social interactions in a friendly, extended family type of environment.

Knock Around Camps are only available for purchase to families that are included in the 2026 pre-registration lottery. Fine Arts Camp is in partnership with the UC San Diego Craft Center.
