About
Southern California FCA Baseball offers FCA Baseball internships, a baseball camp, FCA travel ball teams, Called Up Camps, the Shepherds Program, and team ministry with a Christ-centered focus. Participants can spend a summer in Southern California training in sports ministry, attend Called Up Camps that have been the backbone of the ministry to the baseball community since 2001, and compete for Christ on FCA travel ball teams. The program also uses The Chain of Influence and includes the Shepherds Program to train the next generation of leaders, coaches, sports missionaries, and fathers, while facilitating team ministry with a Christ-centered focus in the world of competitive sports.
Since its inception in 2001, Called Up Camps have been the backbone of the ministry to the baseball community, and this camp and discipleship model was added under the umbrella of FCA in 2010. The leadership team includes Ministry Director Ben Orr, along with Isaac Friesen and Jesse Lopez. The stated vision is to see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes, and the stated mission is to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. FCA Baseball is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, and donations and contributions are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
The program involves taking its camp into new areas of Southern California to introduce more families to Jesus, calling on baseball-loving people to volunteer and assist the ministry, and seeking to meet people from Primo Tapia, Mexico to urban Santa Ana to Yorba Linda. A testimonial from Ministry Director Ben Orr describes FCA Baseball as where Jesus and baseball collide and states that the desire is to create and facilitate environments where God can invade the hearts and minds of athletes, coaches, and all whom they influence, with the result described as God glorified and lives changed.
