Summer Youth Art Camp is a long-running program that has been in operation since 2012. All materials are included for each class, and classes are open to the public with drop-ins welcome to participate in any of the classes. The program is connected with the Lake County Arts Council, which is a not-for-profit volunteer organization.

The instructors at Summer Youth Art Camp are experienced and are all well-known local artists in their various fields of study. The Lake County Arts Council’s mission is to encourage and develop the arts and cultural activities in Lake County by coordinating, developing, sponsoring, and providing assistance in artistic and cultural endeavors. The organization has approved and dedicated three seats on its Board of Directors for cultural bearers as of March 8, 2023. Leadership connected to the broader organization includes Lake County Poet Laureate 2024–2026, Poet Laureate Brenda Yeager, who leads The Lakeport Writers’ Circle, and IDEA Committee contact Dana Adams ([email protected]). The Lake County Arts Council is a member of the California Arts Council and participates in the State and Local Partnership Program, partners with the Lake County Office of Education to provide Arts Integration Trainings, and is involved with Poetry Out Loud, a partnership of the National Endowment for the Arts, the Poetry Foundation, and state and jurisdictional arts agencies.
