City of Lathrop Youth & Teen Recreation Classes offers activities such as Youth Karate, Youth Semi Private Tennis Lessons, Youth Tennis Classes, Tiny Tots, Juniors, a Skateboarding Class, and a Zoom Poetry Workshop. Youth Karate emphasizes character development and discipline in a safe and fun environment. Youth Tennis Classes are divided into Tiny Tots and Juniors, and the Skateboarding Class focuses on the basics and fundamentals of skateboarding.

The City of Lathrop Parks and Recreation Department states that it is always looking to create active recreation experiences and works to promote lifelong learning through contracted classes. The department offers an array of classes for youth, teens, and adults, including art, culinary, dance, education, fitness, golf, martial arts, music, and science. Lathrop was incorporated in 1989, with its first General Plan adopted in 1991. Program proposals are kept on file for review in the event of vacancy if a class is already being taught and the instructor is in good standing, and contracts are based on a fiscal year from July 1 to June 30 with percentage splits of 70/30.
