Firefighters Kids Camp is an annual program designed to benefit young burn survivors. The program is part of the Firefighters Burn Institute’s Firefighters Kids Camp and Little Heroes Family Burn Camp offerings, which both include well-trained burn care and recovery professionals and FFBI staff to assist campers and their families with understanding and coping with the physical and emotional challenges associated with burn recovery.
• Ages: 6–17 years old (campers must be at least 6 and have completed the 1st grade)
• Schedule: Camp dates are June 21–26, 2026
The Firefighters Kids Camp program is supported by a volunteer staff of firefighters, burn care professionals, adult burn survivors, nurses, mental health specialists, and trained recreational leaders. The mission of the program is to provide young burn survivors with a fun and safe camp environment that encourages healing, personal growth, and character development. The Firefighters Burn Institute, which runs the program, is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization founded by Sacramento Fire Captain Cliff Haskell and the Sacramento Area Fire Fighters, Local 522 in 1973. The Firefighters Burn Institute meets the Northeast California Better Business Bureau standards for ethical conduct and charitable accountability. Reflect Kindness sponsors Firefighters Kids Camp and seeks to foster resilience and self-sufficiency through comprehensive support that addresses the immediate needs of individuals and families and provides means to manage overwhelming hardships and work toward a brighter future.
