• Ages: 7–17 years old

Camp Superstar: Sickle Cell Camp is specifically for youth with sickle cell disease, and campers must have sickle cell disease and be between 7 and 17 years old to join. Campers and counselors first meet at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in Oakland, CA and then travel together by charter buses. The camp accepts participants as Counselors in Training (CIT) starting at age 16. All campers must be fully vaccinated, and the camp follows all rules and guidelines pertaining to COVID-19.

The camp is organized and directed by Calvanay Nunley, who has been part of camp for 24 years, starting as a camper at 7 years old, then becoming a Counselor in Training at 16, a counselor, and later camp director. Camp Superstar: Sickle Cell Camp is run under Sickle Cell Anemia Awareness of San Francisco (SCAASF), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization established in 2014 after the death of the founder and CEO's son. SCAASF states its mission as broadening public awareness about sickle cell disease, advocating for clients and families for access to quality compassionate healthcare, educating to empower, and establishing a comprehensive Sickle Cell Disease Care & Resource center in the Bay Area for people living with sickle cell disease to improve care and relations. SCAASF’s work has received certificates of honor and recognition from Senator Weiner and Mayor Lee, and its website lists a copyright of 2014–2024. The organization also provides resources from the National Institutes of Health, including clinical trials nationwide, research findings, and tips and resources, and notes that UCSF is running clinical trials for people with sickle cell disease. One testimonial shared by camp director Calvanay Nunley is: “You are more that your illness - Sickle cell don't have you, You have Sickle Cell.”
