About
Team Martial Arts offers martial arts classes and lessons that include striking, blocking, kicking, stand-up combat, ground combat, choreographed forms, and self-defense. The program uses a kenpō style of martial arts derived from Kajukenbo, a hybrid martial art that combines these elements. Kajukenbo was officially founded in Oahu, Hawaiʻi in 1947 by Adriano Emperado, and its name is an acronym for KArate, JUdo/jitsu, KENpo, and BOxing, with the philosophical meaning “Through this fist style, one gains long life, and happiness.”

Team Martial Arts offers programs for all skill levels, experience levels, and ages, including Champions (3½–6 years old), Youth (7–11 years old), Teens (12+ years old), and Adults (15+ years old). The program emphasizes modesty, courtesy, integrity, perseverance, courage, and the indomitable spirit in all programs, and follows the TEAM method: Together Everyone Achieves More. Team Martial Arts teaches with a philosophy of positive reinforcement, focusing on “catch students doing it right vs. catch them doing it wrong” to have a balance of fun and discipline in each class.
All of the instructors at Team Martial Arts have reached black belt status. The program is led by Wade Taylor (Sifu Wade), a fourth-degree black belt instructor who is also referred to as Chief Wade. Team Martial Arts has been teaching martial arts classes to the Tri-Valley area from its studio for more than 10 years, and is proud that the Tri-Valley community has trusted them for more than 10 years to teach martial arts to the entire family. Month-to-month memberships are available with no long-term contracts, no cancellation fees, no testing fees, and no enrollment fees.
One parent, Jon L., shares that Wade is great with kids, knows each child and their skill level, focuses on manners, concentration, and technique, and encourages parents to be involved in advancement decisions. Another parent, Daniel M., notes that the instructors at Team Martial Arts are great at getting and keeping the kids motivated for the entire class.
