About
AYSO Region 114 Youth Soccer Programs offers youth soccer programs that include the Battle at the Beach tournament, GOALIE WARS mini-tournament, First Touch Friday Night Goalkeeper Clinic and Skills, and the U5 Jamboree - Pizza and Games. The Battle at the Beach tournament includes 7v7 matches for U9/U10, 9v9 matches for U11/U12, and 11v11 matches for U13/U14. The tournament guarantees three games and medal rounds for participating teams.
• Ages: 5–14 years old
• Price: $900 ($650 Entry Fee. $250 Refundable Referee Deposit)
The Battle at the Beach tournament uses single-year divisions for 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, and 14U, and provides free pins and t-shirts for players and coaches. Referees receive t-shirts and flipping coins, and independent referees receive a free tournament t-shirt, free referee flipping coin, and free meal tickets. The tournament offers trophies and medals for finalists, easy-to-access fields with free parking and shady fields, and food vendors. Teams are selected in rounds rather than first-come-first-serve, and teams that bring full referee crews receive first priority. Certified AYSO Referees staff the event, and the leadership team includes Tournament Director Jamie Lawendowski. The program lists Player Safety, Equipment & Jewelry as a resource topic. The mission statement for AYSO Region 114 Youth Soccer Programs is “Providing world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives.” AYSO is involved in several partnerships, including BEEUP Snacks as the Official Fruit Snack Partner for the 2025–2026 season, a Chicago Public Schools partnership to enhance youth sports programming, a partnership with the US Center for Mental Health & Sport focused on player and volunteer wellness, and a partnership with the Northland Sports Alliance expanding soccer programming in Kansas City. AYSO President Michael Karon received the Stack Leadership Award from Stack Sports for his impact in the world of sports volunteering.
