AYSO Region 114 Youth Soccer Programs offers youth soccer, including the Battle at the Beach Tournament with 7v7 (U9/U10), 9v9 (U11/U12), and 11v11 (U13/U14) matches. The program also includes a GOALIE WARS mini-tournament as part of the Battle at the Beach event.
• Ages: 8–14 years old
• Schedule: Battle at the Beach Tournament runs August 21–23, 2026; some local teams may play Friday night, and most teams play Saturday and Sunday
• Price: $900 ($650 Entry Fee, $250 Refundable Referee Deposit) for the 2026 Battle at the Beach Tournament
AYSO Region 114 Youth Soccer Programs uses Certified AYSO Referees, and the Battle at the Beach Tournament guarantees three games and medal rounds when teams participate. When bracket sizes allow, the tournament offers upper and lower flights, and teams are selected in rounds rather than first-come-first-served, with priority given to teams bringing full referee crews. The tournament hosts 120 teams and over 180 games, and players and coaches receive free pins and t-shirts, referees receive t-shirts and flipping coins, and independent referees also receive free meal tickets. Finalist teams receive trophies and medals, and the Battle at the Beach Tournament is scheduled as a pre-season event to get teams ready for fall competition. Tournament Director Jamie Lawendowski leads the event, and the mission of AYSO Region 114 is “Providing world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives.” AYSO Region 114 lists Player Safety, Equipment & Jewelry as a resource and requires volunteers to submit a volunteer application to serve as a Referee, Coach, or Team Manager, and teams are required to submit a single payment within two weeks of official acceptance and are instructed not to submit money or forms until they receive that acceptance. AYSO partners with BEEUP Snacks as the Official Fruit Snack Partner for the 2025–2026 season, and AYSO has partnerships with Chicago Public Schools, the US Center for Mental Health & Sport, and the Northland Sports Alliance.
