Since 2014, Victoria Dye Equestrian has been providing lesson programs and riding camps and managing Westwind Community Barn. The program uses a Pony Club curriculum, offers beginner camps with separate Beginner A and Beginner B tracks, and runs Intermediate and Advanced camps with skill-based entry requirements. Advanced camp includes instruction in jumping and dressage, riding with a dressage clinician and a jumping clinician, an evening movie activity, and a concluding horse show with flat and jumping classes that are judged and award ribbons. Lessons are available for children as young as 6 and adults of any age, with leasing options for school horses and ponies and birthday lessons for children ages 5 and older that include grooming and riding. It is strongly recommended that campers purchase their own helmets and boots with heels, and a limited amount of equipment is available on a first come first serve basis.

Owner, Head Trainer, and Barn Manager Torie Dye has been riding since age 7, was an avid member of United States Pony Club, attended the United States Pony Club National Championships twice, and achieved her C-3 Rating. She studied Animal Science and Equine Science at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, was coach and president of the dressage team, attended the Intercollegiate Dressage Association National Championships twice, placed first individually, and helped her team to a 4th place national ranking. She completed a student internship at Pioneer Equine Hospital studying equine medical care and previously worked as assistant trainer at Millers Equestrian Center and Sanctuary and as Director of School Horse Operations at Fremont Hills Stable. The leadership team also includes Scheduling Manager Heather Franco, Instructor Kate Richardson, and Summer Instructor Cam Trepanier.

The Westwind IEA team finished the year as Region 4 high point for the middle school and high school teams, and the high school team was zone champion. Westwind Community Barn hosts regular horse shows and community events organized by the Town of Los Altos Hills, and Victoria Dye Equestrian hosts two horse shows each year while the town hosts five events each year. The Westwind Riding Institute gives kids with disabilities the opportunity to have fun and improve their strength and coordination through a therapeutic riding program, supported by thousands of volunteers, many of them high school students fulfilling community service requirements. Los Altos Hills residents receive a 10% discount on all lessons and packages, and all camp registration is conducted through the Los Altos Hills Parks and Recreation Department.

Parent, student, and boarder comments describe instructors as “fabulous,” horses as “well mannered and healthy,” the property as “beautiful and well maintained” with “fantastic” arena footing and “wonderful trails,” and refer to Westwind barn as “a great barn to be at” and “a gem.”
