Dance Engagements offers dance camps, a trendsetting summer dance camp, dance workshops and intensives, private dance lessons, and community events that include exclusive performances. Camp and class activities include Smores Tales Night @ The Camp Fire, nature hikes, Show and Tell, swimming, Movie Nights, Dance Party Nights, an official CDC camp-dance, and learning original and custom choreography. The organization states that its mission is to engage and educate dancers of all ages, shapes, and sizes in the arts of cultural dances worldwide while promoting positive physical health, community outreach, environmental awareness, and self-betterment, and it believes in modeling and training the “whole” dancer in a hands-on environment while nurturing their needs and encouraging self-betterment. Dance Engagements was founded in 2007, and its official debut event was the first annual Cali Dance Camp in the summer of 2008. Cali Dance Camp was founded on the belief of providing a premium experience to youth in and around Los Angeles without putting a dent in a family’s pocket, and the camps have community support. The organization states that it aims to pay forward opportunities without desire for financial gain and offers opportunities that are no longer easily at reach due to budget cuts in programs not deemed important.
Master instructors at Dance Engagements are described as highly skilled in Latin, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Modern, Jazz, Contemporary, Salsa, Flags, Military, African, Ballet, and Yoga, with a forte in Drill, and the staff includes student dancers, world-class performers, distinguished laureates, lifelong educators, and master-choreographers respected around the globe. Nearly the entire staff are alumni of Hollywood High and have become professionals in various fields, and the globally recognized Los Angeles dance instructors are described as award-winning performers. The leadership team includes Adel Carrera (President/Founder), Linda Perez (Secretary), Freddie Thompson (Treasurer), Gizella Czene (Board Member), CC Perez (Marketing Director), Trey Rich (Master Choreographer), and instructors Orlando Agawin, Juan Cruz, and Sydney Smith.
