Storybook Theatre features interactive musical theater for children, with performances that invite kids to take part in the action. The program is presented by Theatre West as a children's interactive theatrical experience and has been part of Theatre West since 1984.

Established in 1962, Theatre West is an internationally acclaimed nonprofit arts organization and is the oldest continually running theatre company in Los Angeles. Storybook Theatre has been home at Theatre West for 39 years. Theatre West’s mission is to nurture and develop theatre artists through workshops and public performances and to serve the community through theatrical plays, children's theatre, musical performances, and educational programs. Theatre West’s qualified teaching staff goes into LAUSD classrooms and uses theater skills to present educational instruction that meets California Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) standards.
Storybook Theatre has been honored by the United States Senate and House of Representatives, the County Board of Supervisors, the Los Angeles City Council, and the Mayor’s Office. Theatre West’s work has received Tony Awards, Obies, Ovation Award nominations, 9 LA Drama Critics Awards, Valley Theatre Awards, 7 NAACP Image Awards, and over 130 Drama-Logue Awards, and has been recognized internationally at festivals in Edinburgh and Dublin. Theatre West also supports the community through benefits for local schools, the Valley Jewish Storefront, Hollygrove Orphanage, S.T.A.G.E., APLA, Concern II, and fundraising for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
