• Ages: 2–18 years old
The program’s mission states that Karate teaches kindness and that self-control is the first goal of Karate. The first lesson taught at Karate Kids is to stand tall with no wiggles or giggles, and the first required skill is using one’s voice to let someone know how they feel. The lobby at Karate Kids is described as full of loving mothers and fathers who want to see their children learn how to make eye contact, stand up tall, use their words, and practice good manners. The program encourages children as young as two years old to be brave and kind.
The Tiger Tots program encourages boys and girls to stand on their own and focuses on motor skills, social skills, and self-control within a playful and nurturing Karate class, with students earning patches and belts to keep them excited about achieving goals. The Lions program inspires students to be kinder, stronger people while they learn playground-appropriate self-defense techniques in a safe and fun class format, develop listening skills and good manners, and learn the value of setting goals by earning patches and belts. The Dragons class promotes focus, patience, and respect through age-appropriate Karate and grappling techniques and challenges students to be their best at home, at school, and in the Dojo as they graduate through 12 belt ranks. Halfway through Dragons, hard-working students may be invited to join the Black Belt Club, which invites them to serve as school leaders, earn special Hero Patches, and one day earn a Black Belt in the style Gozen Karate.
