The Preschool Program includes Creative Curriculum activities along with sensory development experiences. Children take part in training in optimizing the use of remaining vision, orientation and mobility including cane travel, pre-braille literacy, and adaptive outdoor play. The program also offers healthy breakfast, lunch, and snack each day and uses adaptive outdoor play on two playgrounds.

Blind Children’s Center states that its mission is to prepare infants, toddlers, and preschoolers of all abilities to thrive through inclusive, family-focused early childhood education, with a specialized focus on children who are blind or visually impaired. Preschool classrooms are fully inclusive, with approximately half of the children having vision loss or other disabilities and the other half being typically developing children, and programs are fully inclusive with sighted children integrated in each class. Specialists and teachers provide individualized support for students who are blind or visually impaired. The program operates as a Head Start program with services focusing on the whole child and family, including health, mental health, and nutrition. Blind Children’s Center has been lighting the way since 1938 and is licensed by the Department of Social Services under License Number 191805057.
