The program is led by Sifu Ryan Scott, whose primary teaching philosophy is based on ancient Chinese martial arts. Since age 8, he has practiced martial arts in dojos across the United States, in China, and in Japan, and he has extensive experience working with some of the world’s highest-ranking martial artists in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Tai Chi, Aikido, Tae Kwon Do, and Yuchia Kung Fu. He is the third student out of thousands to reach the rank of black under Sifu Robert Brown, a martial arts master with 40 years of experience who holds black belts in four different martial arts styles and has taught thousands of students. Sifu Scott has completed a pilgrimage to China to visit the Shaolin monks and briefly studied Aikido at the Hombu Dojo in Japan. He is also a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, awarded by Roger Machado, one of the highest ranking Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners in the world with a coral belt, and he continues to practice under Roger Machado.

The mission of the program states that ancient Chinese martial arts are the primary teaching philosophy because of their richness in spirituality and practical use in everyday life. According to this mission, students learn Kung Fu, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, T’ai Chi, and Meditation and in all programs deepen their mindfulness practice, becoming the best version of themselves. The school highlights themes such as Kids and Respect, partners not opponents, Advice for Beginners, and encourages those in the Los Angeles area to reach out and begin training, noting that Sifu Scott is passionate about teaching martial arts to all ages, including kids, adults, and seniors. The program also references “School of Martial Arts Giving Back” as part of its community involvement.
