Starpower describes itself as the worldwide leader in talent competitions and states that it has been inspiring performers for over three decades. The organization reports over 35 years of experience and provides upwards of 80 creative and energy-packed competitions annually in cities across the globe. Starpower hosts national events in multiple locations, including Atlantic City, Hershey, Las Vegas, Branson, Wisconsin Dells, Orlando, Ocean City, and Myrtle Beach, and runs a “BATTLE ON THE SEAS” event scheduled for January 16–19, 2026 on the Wonder Of The Seas. Starpower also offers a “2026 SDA Teacher Of The Year Nomination” opportunity. Its mission statement says that it is a stage where dancers and performers of all ages and levels from around the world showcase their artistry and talent, and it uses the guarantee, “You’re always a star at Starpower!”

Starpower’s leadership team includes Noelle Pate Packett, who has officially led the organization since 2017 and trained under her father, Gary Pate, and other master teachers and choreographers, and who graduated from UNCW with a degree in Elementary Education and Psychology. Founder Gary Pate has been involved in show business, entertainment, and dance since the age of five, previously owned and directed a large gymnastics and dance complex, and served as director and choreographer for Superstars Show Troupe; he holds an Associate of Arts Degree from Prince George’s College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Maryland. Grace Wakefield, Founder and Director for 35 years of Wakefield School of Dance, has had an extensive professional and teaching career, has taught and lectured dance in various schools, and has provided dance therapy in hospitals to handicapped and mental patients; she has also toured with the U.S.O. entertaining troops with many stars.
