Art of Acting Studio Programs offers acting classes and intensives that include Acting Technique, Scene Study, On-Camera, Voice, Improvisation, Musical Theater for Film, and Physical Theater. The programs also include a Film & Television Acting Intensive and a Summer Conservatory.

The Art of Acting Studio Programs are part of an acting school and cultural center whose mission is to create an environment that nurtures theatre artists and audiences who value humanity, their own and others, as their first and most precious priority by providing art and education to the greater community. The school’s roots go back to Jacob P. Adler, Stella Adler, and Harold Clurman, and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting celebrates its 75th Anniversary in 2024. The school states that its mission revolves around the idea that growth as an actor and growth as a human being are synonymous, and it affirms that the primary function of acting is to uplift humanity. The Art of Acting Studio is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theater and has been licensed to operate as an Accredited School by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education in compliance with state standards in the California Education Code 94866 and 94890, and the Stella Adler Studio is accredited with the National Association of Schools of Theatre. The Art of Acting Studio is the West Coast home of the Harold Clurman Laboratory Theater Company, which produces theater committed to the standards and ideals set out by Stella Adler, Harold Clurman, and the Group Theater. The school describes its Professional Conservatory full-time Los Angeles program as the heart and soul of the studio and also offers part-time workshops for actors with a busy schedule, as well as online workshops with the studio’s faculty available worldwide. The Art of Acting Studio runs an Audition Tour for the Professional Conservatory and Summer Programs in cities including Chicago, San Francisco, locations in Australia and London, Mexico City, and more. The scope of the school’s activities includes arts and cultural events that are free and open to the public, with recent participants including Annette Bening, Anthony Zerbe, Sam Rockwell, and Bill Paxton. The school describes itself as a cultural center determined to train actors and support artists in the face of a world in crisis and will expand its programming and training through the Arts Justice Division, providing free actor training to youth impacted by poverty.
