About the provider

United Friends of the Children was founded in 1979 and has served LA County since 1979. It states that it empowers current and former foster youth through service-enriched education and housing programs, advocacy, and consistent relationships with a community of people who care. The organization serves over 700 foster youth and caregiving families each year and provides tutoring, counseling, therapy, food, and other support services. It also supports volunteering, internships, in-kind donations, and events and workshops throughout the year.

Students can enroll in the Scholars Program at any time. If a grade level is at capacity, students may be placed on a waitlist.

What families say

“"UFC has been like a second family and has always been there for me. My life with UFC has changed me completely. I learned who I am, what I want to become, and how I can get there."” — Ruby A., United Friends graduate

“"I know that when I need help, I can just call my counselor. You go from just being alone in the world to having full support from someone."” — Scholars Program participant
