Villa’s Taekwondo has been a part of the Los Angeles Taekwondo community since 1995, and the Villa family has provided Los Angeles Taekwondo for over 30 years. The school is a family-run Taekwondo program with a legacy built on family, excellence, and heart. Programs include kids Taekwondo, health and fitness, self-defense, and a competition team, with a weekly schedule designed to fit busy family routines.
The school is led by founder Master Octavio Villa, a world championship bronze medalist, along with Master Gus Villa, a 3-time US National champion and member of the Mexican National Team, and Master Damian Villa, a World Champion Medalist; Gus Villa took over the school in 2015 after his dad led the way for 20 years. Additional staff include World Champion Medalist Alina Martirosyan, California State Champion Aram Martirosyan, USA National Champion Ariana Martirosyan, USA National Champion Brisa Espinoza, California State Champion Amelie Valiente, and California State Champion Valeria Guillén. Instructors at Villa’s Taekwondo are described as mentors, role models, and champions.
Villa’s Taekwondo states that everything they do is centered around a positive mindset, with students greeted by a smile and an instructor who is looking forward to helping them grow. The program describes its Taekwondo classes as highly energetic, using positive reinforcement while also being productively critical, and keeping each student on task through repetition as they go at their own pace for their personal development journey.
Villa’s Taekwondo has been honored as one of the best Taekwondo schools in the nation, and as one of the best Taekwondo schools not just in California but in the country. The program holds titles including 2022–24 No. 1 sparring school in the US, 2022–25 Best California Taekwondo School, and USA Best Taekwondo School. The school highlights both high-level technique and competitive accomplishments on the mat, along with on-the-mat success and an off-the-mat culture that includes school picnics and movie nights.
Villa’s Taekwondo has been working with the Los Angeles community for three decades and invites everyone in Los Angeles and those nearby in East LA, Montobello, and the City of Commerce. The program offers a free trial Taekwondo class and seasonal rotating specials, including the Summer Special of two weeks plus a uniform for $49.
Parent and student reviews mention confidence, discipline, strength, and fun, and describe the master instructors, coaches, and athletes as awesome and experienced. Testimonials also note numerous champions, long-term student experiences starting at age 5, and one parent’s statement that there is no wonder why Villa’s Taekwondo is rated the number one sparring school in the nation, with their child now competing across the USA and internationally.
