About
Westchester Del Rey Little League Softball & Tee Ball offers girls softball, boys tee ball, and girls tee ball. The program also includes defensive skills clinics along with hitting and pitching lessons.
• Ages: 4–14 years old
Westchester Del Rey Little League Softball & Tee Ball is in its 51st season of girls’ softball and 21st season of co-ed tee ball. The program provides the opportunity for girls ages 6–14 to compete in four different divisions based on age and skill level, and no experience is required for players new to softball. It also manages Little League Tee-Ball (Baseball) for boys and girls ages 4–6 and has formed two all-school tee ball teams: the Covenant Presbyterian Crew and the Westside Neighborhood School Jets. The league hosts “Mondays on Mace” defensive skills clinics paired with hitting and pitching lessons and provides field status updates for Carl E. Nielsen Park and Ariel Center West Mace.
The mission of Westchester Del Rey Little League is to provide a community-based environment that supports an opportunity for all players to participate, to have fun, to learn sportsmanship and respect, and to learn the rules and strategies of the game, with the attainment of exceptional athletic skill or winning of games considered secondary. By espousing the virtues of character, courage, and loyalty, Westchester Del Rey Little League states that it strives to develop citizens rather than superior athletes.
The leadership team includes Jim Evans, President of the Westchester Del Rey Little League Softball & Tee Ball Program. Staff credentials include Erin Trapp, a former collegiate softball player and Deputy Executive Director Major Events & Strategy at LAWAW.
Westchester Del Rey Little League is affiliated with both Little League International and USA Softball and is one of a few programs with this dual affiliation. It was recognized by and invited to affiliate with the Alliance Fastpitch Futures Leagues and was selected by Little League West Region to host the 2025 8–10-Year-Old Southern California State Tournament on Mace Field. Westchester Del Rey Little League Softball are the 2025 West Region Champions and the 2025 Major (12u) Southern California State Champions.
Children who live or go to school in Playa Vista, Playa Del Rey, and Westchester are eligible to play, and children who live in neighboring areas including Inglewood, Del Rey, Culver City, El Segundo, and Ladera may be eligible based on school location and other factors. Westchester Del Rey Little League hosted the 11th Annual Major Division Border War Softball Tournament and welcomed the re-establishment of North Venice Little League Softball. The league welcomed the Stephanie Younger Group as its third and final scoreboard sponsor, joining Lulu’s Place and Post 424.
