Youth Programs

Youth Programs at the California Science Center include hands-on learning experiences in the Discovery Rooms in the World of Life and Ecosystems exhibit areas for visitors aged 7 and younger. The program also connects families with an educationally focused IMAX Theater that uses the largest film frame in the motion picture industry to create images on a 7-story screen. Families can explore changing special exhibitions such as GAME ON! Science, Sports & Play, The Art of the Brick, and King Tut: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh, and see the space shuttle Endeavour, one of three remaining space shuttles and the only one located in the western United States.

The California Science Center states that its mission is to stimulate curiosity and inspire science learning in everyone by creating fun, memorable experiences, and it identifies science, accessibility and inclusiveness, and enriching people’s lives as core values. It describes itself as the West Coast's largest hands-on science center, a world-class educational resource, and a family destination that is open to the public 7 days a week, 362 days per year, serving a diverse community of learners. Core exhibit galleries are free and do not require a reservation, and the center is located in the heart of Los Angeles in historic Exposition Park.
