Music by Heart is a non-profit music organization founded by Israeli musician and educator Lior Ben-Hur. Its mission is to strengthen connection and belonging to Jewish life through the transformative power of music, and it is dedicated to strengthening Jewish identity and community through music. Jewish Music Programs from Music by Heart offer cultural, linguistic, and musical journeys for learners and educators. Music by Heart works with Jewish early childhood education programs, day schools, and supplementary schools to provide experiential music education, and currently works with 75 classrooms, 190 educators, and 1500 families.

Music by Heart created Cousins Like Us, described as a musical storybook and a groundbreaking Jewish family education and multimedia program. Cousins Like Us blends music, immersive storytelling, and cultural exploration and offers a cultural exchange between Israeli and American Jews. The program includes a music album for parents and children, an educational app for children, and an activity guide for educators, and is primarily targeted to preschools and lower elementary schools.

Music by Heart is led by Founder and CEO Lior Ben-Hur, Chief Program Officer Liat Salman, Communications and Engagement staff member Jamie Zimmer, and Visual Design staff member Daniel Buckwald. The board leadership includes Board Chair Zvi Weiss, Vice President Etai Freedman, Treasurer Diane Tobin, Vice President Mindy Berkowitz, and board members Rabbi Laurie Hahn Tapper, Dr. Evan Kletter, Rabbi Jessica Kirschner, and Ellen Konar, Ph.D. In 2013, Lior Ben-Hur won the national Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Excellence in Jewish Education.

Parents and educators have described the Cousins Like Us program as a huge success in the classroom, highlighting the music, creative videos, and discussions that supported a deeper understanding of the cultures taught in the program. One family shared that their child played the songs repeatedly, enjoyed hearing the stories through two different voices, and appreciated sharing gratitude with their class during a family workshop. Another community noted that the integration of new music during tefillah and in the community was a highlight of the religious school year.
