NUMU Youth + Family Programs

NUMU Youth + Family Programs offers monthly crafts and special youth and family events. Activities include making paper slip pumpkins and marigold tissue garlands, woven burlap bookmarks, yarn-wrapped ornaments and DIY gift tags, strawberry gift boxes, and festive holiday crafts. Other offerings include Spook-tacular Crafts Day, Reawakening Community Day, and Girl Scouts Art and Design Badge activities with painting, printmaking, building, and a Tiny Art Show.

Programs

• Monthly Craft: Paper Slip Pumpkins and Marigold Tissue Garlands — Visit our MakerSpace to create your own pumpkin using silly scissors and slips of colorful paper, then make a hanging garland of marigolds from tissue paper and pipe cleaners.
• Spook-tacular Crafts Day — Crafters of all ages; Ages 0-5 invited to join the Los Gatos Library for a Halloween Storytime & Trick-or-Treat Parade · Free admission and spooky crafts for Halloween and Día de los Muertos at the museum.
• Monthly Craft: Woven Burlap Bookmarks — Enjoy being mindful while you stitch and weave yarn into your own patterned bookmark.
• Reawakening Community Day — Family-friendly activities, refreshments, games, and exhibition-inspired activations to honor and celebrate the culture and experiences of the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe.
• Girl Scouts Brownie Art and Design Badge — Girl Scouts will explore art and design through hands-on activities including painting, printmaking, and building.
• Monthly Craft: Yarn-Wrapped Ornaments and DIY Gift Tags — Make yarn-wrapped ornaments and DIY gift tags using templates to trace, cut, and wrap yarn around the frame.
• Festive Night at the Museum — A festive night at the museum with additional open hours, free admission, light refreshments, holiday-themed crafts, music, and local art and history.
• Girl Scouts Junior Art and Design Badge — Girl Scout Juniors will earn their Art and Design Badge by creating a Tiny Art Show.
• Monthly Craft: Strawberry Gift Boxes — Create your own gift box inspired by vintage strawberry candy wrappers.

About the provider

New Museum Los Gatos, or NUMU, was founded in 1965. Its mission is engaging the community at the intersection of art, history, and education through innovative, locally connected, and globally relevant exhibits, programs, and experiences. The museum offers programs and events for youth and families, hands-on crafts, tours, and activities. Museum admission is free for youth under 18 years of age, and an adult chaperone must accompany all youth under 13 when visiting the museum.
