About
NUMU Youth + Family Programs include hands-on crafts, tours, and activities that focus on art and history. Families can take part in specific projects such as a Monthly Craft: DIY Folding Fan, Handwriting the Constitution, and Girl Scouts badge programs including the Brownie Art and Design Badge, Junior Art and Design Badge, and Cadette Book Artist Badge. On most open days, visitors can also make a self-led craft for all ages in the MakerSpace, and crafts might be seasonal or related to current exhibitions. An adult chaperone must accompany all youth under 13 when visiting the museum.

New Museum Los Gatos (NUMU) was founded in 1965. NUMU’s mission is engaging the community at the intersection of art, history, and education through innovative, locally connected and globally relevant exhibits, programs, and experiences. NUMU recognizes that it is located on the ethno-historic tribal territory of the Somontac / Partacsi / Rictocsi Thámien Ohlone-dialect-speaking tribal territory of the ancestral unceded tribal lands of the Muwekma Ohlone People, and that the Los Gatos region also includes the lands of the intermarried Thámiens, Alsons, and other neighboring tribal groups intermarried with the direct ancestors of some of the lineages enrolled in the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe of the San Francisco Bay Area.
The program is part of a museum that includes NUMU’s Lounge, an interactive space open to the public to create art or look through a collection of art and history books, and a MakerSpace where visitors can make a self-led craft for all ages. NUMU partners with Girl Scouts. The leadership team includes Kimberly Snyder (Executive Director), Cristiano Colantoni (Director of Exhibitions + Collections), Alexandra Thompson (Collections Manager + Exhibitions Registrar), Allison Railo (Curator), Cal James Railo (Preparator), Constance Button (Education Curator), Sara Eberhart (Education Coordinator), Jamie Donofrio (Development + Communications Manager), Parker Day (Facilities Coordinator), Cheryl Huguenor (Tours + Visitor Services Representative), and John Paul K. Amaral (MakerSpace + Visitor Services Representative).
