Madera Head Start Preschool Program is a center-based program with full-day and part-day options. Classrooms in the program prioritize a nurturing atmosphere that supports both collaboration and individual growth. Teaching staff in the program focus on learning through play and use rich conversations to encourage children to think more deeply about their play and make meaningful connections from it.
• Ages: 3–5 years old
• Schedule: Program services run from August through May each year
The mission of Head Start is to ensure that all children, regardless of their family’s income, race, or ethnic background, are able to enter kindergarten ready to learn. The program is led by Head Start Director Maritza Gomez-Zaragoza. Community Action Partnership of Madera County, Inc. (CAPMC), which operates the program, is a public non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and is committed to improving the social well-being and economic capacity of low to moderate-income individuals and families, as well as providing opportunities to achieve economic independence.
Parent feedback about the program includes: “Tammy said the program is cool!” from Tammy, and a comment from Karen P: “Thank you to the teachers from the Chowchilla Center. I appreciate how beautiful they are. Teacher Anna would know how to calm my daughter down. She even helped with better communication between my daughter and I.”
