LaLiga Select is the official scouting and recruiting platform on behalf of Spain’s First Division LaLiga teams and is described as the official North American Talent Pathway of LaLiga and the official USA and Canada recruitment platform of LaLiga. LaLiga’s expert scouts attend selected soccer events across the United States, and chosen players are invited to the 10-day showcase in Madrid, with further selection leading to a Training Camp with a LaLiga youth club. Players selected for Step 3 spend one to two weeks at a LaLiga club training with the youth team and residing in the club’s facilities, and LaLiga Select provides a bilingual chaperone available 24/7 in Madrid who has passed an official police background check. All players must have their own medical coverage, the organization provides only excess coverage, and families are asked to share any allergies or special needs before the program so that food allergies can be accommodated and players receive Mediterranean meals three times a day. The online system accepts major credit and debit cards, including Visa, American Express, Mastercard, and Discover, and participants must have a valid passport with at least six months of validity remaining to travel. The program’s stated goal as LaLiga’s official USA and Canada recruitment platform is to provide top young American and Canadian players with professional training and opportunities to play for leading LaLiga football teams, and it is collaborating with LaLiga Women to provide opportunities for girls next season.
