West Coast Berryessa was originally established in 1976 and moved to its current location in 1998. The program is part of WCWMA, which is described as a mixed and unique blending of traditional and modern day martial arts and has over 40 years of martial arts teaching experience across the country. Kids and Teens Programs include self-defense, fitness, and personal and character development, and adult classes provide a course that includes multiple styles of martial arts. The WCWMA system integrates what it describes as a positive martial arts way of life, and students are taught perseverance, goal setting, mental state management, an indomitable spirit to never quit, and respect and discipline built on a foundation of a strong work ethic.

Great Grand Master Ernie Reyes Sr. developed the WCWMA system curriculum and has continually worked with world-class champions, masters, and teachers to create a curriculum that blends traditional and modern martial arts. The leadership team for West Coast Martial Arts - Berryessa includes Master Truong Nguyen as Head Instructor, KJN Truong Nguyen as owner and operator of West Coast Berryessa, KJN Tony Thompson, who co-founded WCWMA alongside KJN Ernie Reyes Sr., and Great Grand Master Ernie Reyes Sr. The program’s stated mission is, “We strive to instill the value of constant and never-ending improvement in all aspects of training and life.” One parent, Arzee Norwood, reports that their son gained experience in martial arts and character qualities like discipline and focus, and that the instructors show concern for the kids’ growth.
