Laguna Dance Theatre offers training in Classical Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical, Tap, Jazz, and Pilates. The program includes instruction in these dance styles for students at different levels.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
Laguna Dance Theatre was founded in 1985 and is the home of Laguna Ballet. The organization is celebrating 40 years and presents Laguna Ballet's 40th production of The Nutcracker. The program also offers a Sugarplum Tea/Boutique event that includes performances by the Sugar Plum Fairy and her friends from the Land of Sweets, a keepsake craft, photos with the cast, a dessert and beverage bar, and the Dew Drop Boutique. For this event, children age 7 and under must be accompanied by a paid adult, and children 2 and under are free when accompanied by a paid parent and sibling.
Founder and Artistic Director Shery Gilbert obtained a BFA at the University of California, Irvine, became a member of Ballet Nacional de Panama, continues to coach dancers of the New York City Ballet, Miami City Ballet, and Nevada Ballet Theatre, and is a member of the CA Dance Advisory Board and sponsor of the CA Dance Festival 2005 and 2006. Instructor Emily Falcone is Body Arts & Sciences International (BASI) certified in Pilates, obtained her BS in Kinesiology from California State University, Fullerton, earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy, and specializes in treatment of the pediatric population and works with children with developmental delays and disabilities. Instructor Sheri Giller has a teaching career spanning over 35 years and holds certifications in Bikram Yoga and Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT). Instructor Natalie Jameson was a Certified Move Competition judge in 2015. Laguna Dance Theatre states that its mission is to create a nurturing and supportive environment, offer comprehensive training programs with instruction in Classical Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical, Tap, Jazz, and Pilates for students of all ages and levels, and to inspire students to be passionate about dance and to reach their full potential as dancers and individuals.
