About

Sandy Feet Initiative Sibshops and After-School Programs offers week long beach camps and after-school sessions that include surfing, boogie boarding, ocean play, games, yoga, mindfulness, beach clean-ups, recreationally therapeutic games, art projects, and lively discussions. The program supplies all the equipment needed for its camps.

• Ages: 7–18 years old
• Schedule: Week long beach camps, after-school programs, and weekend workshops

Sandy Feet Initiative was founded in 2017 in response to a lack of services for the siblings of children with special needs. The program is an Orange County non-profit organization where it recognizes, supports, and creates community for the siblings of kids with special needs, disabilities, and chronic illness. Its programs are exclusively for the neurotypical siblings of children with disabilities and use the Sibshop model in beach-based recreational programs. Sandy Feet facilitators offer after-school programs for siblings ages 7–12 and weekend workshops for teens ages 14 and up, as well as week long summer camps. Using recreationally therapeutic games, art projects, and open and honest chats and discussions about the shared and unique experiences of being a sibling of a child with special needs, the program creates a space for kids to connect with others who understand their unique family dynamic. Founder and Executive Director Mo Langley leads the organization.
