About

Spirit League Youth Program offers coed team sports including basketball, baseball, soccer, bowling, and flag football. Athletes play on fields and courts using provided field and court equipment, and games are organized by age into three divisions. Youth Program athletes receive personalized jerseys, participate in picture day, and take part in a season-end celebration with trophies or medals.

• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Youth Program seasons are generally ten weeks long, with three youth sports per year (basketball, baseball, and soccer), and the three Youth Program age divisions typically play on Saturdays at different times throughout the day. Division 3 sessions are 60 minutes, and Division 2 and Division 1 sessions are 90 minutes.
• Price: Scholarships are available to families who need financial assistance to cover athlete registration fees.

Spirit League Youth Program is part of Spirit League, a year-round, non-profit, expert-led, coed team sports league for ambulatory autistic, neurodivergent, and developmentally disabled athletes with unique support needs. Athletes in the Youth and Adult programs participate in regular team play in sports such as basketball, baseball, soccer, bowling, flag football, and other team sports. The program serves ambulatory youth athletes who are neurodivergent, autistic, or developmentally disabled, including those who are typically unable to fully participate in their local neighborhood youth sports program due to challenges such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, Learning Disabilities, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and other mild physical and emotional disabilities. Athletes are required to be ambulatory for the safety of all participants and their families, and no athlete is turned away due to financial need.

Spirit League is described as an expert-led organization with experienced staff, trained coaches, and volunteers who provide a structured, safe environment, and coaches are trained professionals. Games are organized according to age into three divisions: Division 3 for ages 6 to 9 years, Division 2 for ages 9 to 13 years, and Division 1 for ages 13 to 22 years. Parent participation is encouraged, and families become part of a community of caring made up of professional staff, trained coaches, parents, and volunteers. The basketball season is sponsored by the City of Mission Viejo.

The organization’s leadership includes President Nancy Donnelly, Treasurer Danette Adams, Secretary Joe Donnelly, Board Members Mike Jarpe, Kim Striegl, Abby Rozenberg, and Brian Rosenblatt, Executive Director David Lewis, Program Director Lexie Cory, Youth Program Athletic Coordinator Giovanni Rosales, Youth Program Community Coordinator Veronica Bahena Martinez, and Adult Program Athletic & Community Coordinator Tyler Lowenthal. Game Day Assistants include Sam Wogulis, Kylie Robertson, Marlen Monzon, Sebastian Cruz, Daniel Martinez, Megan Macker, Carolina Bahena Martinez, Anthony Correa-Miranda, and Nicole Adams.
