The organization describes itself as a small camping organization by design, with high counselor to camper ratios and small overall camp numbers at its residential and trip camps. Classic Camps are traditional group settings where campers are arranged into smaller groups for the week, and the camps are boys and girls camps without a co-ed environment. Adventure camps and trips are led by experienced guides, are limited in number of campers, and take campers to unique and beautiful parts of California and the world. Father/child camps are described as being set up so dads and children can build memories together with flexibility for the dad and child to direct their time, and dads are welcomed and encouraged to come along with their children on many camps and trips.

The mission statement of Sequoia Brigade Camp says that, using the power of God’s creation as a context, its camps and trips challenge the minds, bodies, and souls of the boys and young men who join them year after year. The mission statement also says that the camp uses hand-chosen and trained counselors, focuses on age-appropriate encouragement to a new way of living, and that adventure and fun are the context while God’s word and mature counselors are the tools used, with the camp experience described as being about Jesus and aimed at raising up disciples. The organization’s philosophy of ministry is described as being built around discipleship and requires getting to know the people they serve.

The leadership information states that Karl Benson is the Camp Director and that he was a long-time friend of the camp who was invited to join the board before taking up the position of Camp Director. The leadership information also lists Will Heckinger as Registrar and notes that for the past 45 years Bob Nass has served as Director of Sequoia Brigade Camp.

One testimonial from a Father/Daughter Camp participant, Rod Williams, describes enjoying relationship-building time with his daughter and other fathers in the serene and scenic setting of Hartstone Camp and thanks the camp for its devotion to the Triune God, care and love for families, and leadership. Another testimonial from Cindy and David Foulke about Surf Camp says that their son Evan had great things to say about camp, about what he learned about surfing and from the Bible studies, and that they appreciated having a Christian camping experience for him.
