Earth Trek Forest School includes activities such as climbing over logs, watching insects, inventing games, and caring for one another. A typical day includes arrival and free exploration, a morning circle with songs, an adventure walk, snack time, nature projects and imaginative play, and a closing circle with reflection.

• Schedule: Fall and Spring seasonal programs, Tuesday–Thursday, 8:30 AM–12:30 PM; Fall Seasonal Immersion from September to December and Spring Seasonal Immersion from March to May
Earth Trek Forest School is a small outdoor program for children ages 2.5–5, with a mixed-age group and a maximum of 10 children with two educators. It is not a drop-in program and runs as a consistent seasonal experience, with children attending in rain, wind, and sunshine, with safety considerations for extreme conditions. Sessions blend formal and non-formal education through a lens of empathy and connection to the natural world, and each participant is described as competent and unique, serving a crucial niche in the learning community. Small class sizes are described as ensuring that each student will be individually seen, celebrated, and supported on their own learning journey. The program uses careful site selection in public parks, ongoing risk assessment, medically certified staff, experienced outdoor educators, and clear communication with families, and proper clothing allows children to experience the changing seasons fully.
Earth Trek Forest School was founded to give young children the freedom to grow through direct experience in the natural world. The program states that young children learn best through unhurried exploration, meaningful relationships, and connection to the living world around them. Earth Trek is described as play-based, child-led, and rooted in respect for each child’s pace of development. The program states that everything on Earth is connected, including the relationship to ourselves, others, and the planet, and that Earth Trek Forest School is the web that connects the strands of social emotional learning, wilderness awareness, and science into one. What began as a small outdoor program has become a close-knit community of families who value simplicity, curiosity, resilience, and connection.
The leadership team includes Vanessa “River” Yakobovich as Founder, Director, and Lead Field Educator, and Cora Molthen as Field Educator. Staff are medically certified and described as experienced outdoor educators. Cora Molthen has six years of experience as an early childhood educator with 18 units in early childhood development and sixteen years of working with different ages and special-needs within her career as a teacher. From 2022 to 2023, Cora worked as a behavior technician in developing healthy skills for clients to help with their language acquisition and their social emotional growth.
