About
The Kids & Teens Program offers Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing as its core activities. The kids’ class follows the beginner adult class curriculum in a more fun and kid-friendly format with a focus on defense and position. Children in the program take part in activities that involve working together as a team while also developing themselves as individuals.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
As a member of Paragon, families have access to a large network of locations to train at across California. The program takes place in a 6800 square foot facility with a 36 foot by 100 foot mat, which provides plenty of room for everyone. Two age groups are offered in this program: ages 4–6 and ages 7 and up.
Paragon Morgan Hill is led by Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt John Murphy, who has been training, teaching, and competing for over 15 years in both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai Kickboxing and earned his black belt under Chris Lovato. Chris and his wife Mallory run five academies near San Luis Obispo, and they have been in business since 2009. Ricardo “Franjinha” Miller opened Paragon Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Santa Barbara in 1998, is a black belt under Romero “Jacare” Cavalcanti, and is a multiple-time world champion. The program’s stated mission is to invite families to join a community that is described as passionate, determined, and supportive. The program also notes a connection with Ocean Grove Charter School for families who use charter funds.
