About
Genesis Hoops offers basketball skills training that includes shooting, ball handling, IQ development, and athletic performance. The program also includes Local and National travel teams for players who participate in team competition.
The leadership team includes Rudy Brown as President and Pro Skills Trainer, along with Pro Skills Trainers Tremayne Gipson and Derrick O’Neil. Coach Rudy Brown is the Founder and President of Genesis Hoops and graduated from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Division 1 student-athlete. Tremayne Gipson graduated from California Baptist University in an advanced program, majoring in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Sports Medicine, and previously played collegiate basketball at Vanguard University on a full scholarship. Derrick O’Neil played two years at Florida State College, Jacksonville, where he earned Florida Junior College Player of the Week and made the All Florida Junior College first team, then received a full scholarship to Florida Gulf Coast University, where he was a two-year captain and later played in China, Japan, Taiwan, and in the NBA Development League with the Bakersfield Jam. Genesis Hoops describes its training as innovative, intense, and elite, includes a Strength and Agility Specialist on the training team, and offers Local and National travel teams. The program’s mission is “to use sports to unlock greatness in players, coaches, and enthusiasts in critical areas of life – discipline, relationships, communication, passion, health, and faith – while providing the best instruction, competition, and exposure available,” and it emphasizes the core Genesis philosophy and life principle, “Good Isn’t Enough... BE GREAT!” along with the phrase “Champions for Christ. Champions for life.” Parents and players have shared testimonials noting discipline, care, tenacity, passion, skill development in speed, agility, and shooting, and a focus on leadership and being “great” both on the court and in life.
