About

A Place of My Own is a program where each child is placed in an age-appropriate classroom for daily class time. Children also have chances to play and interact with children of different ages during both indoor and outdoor play sessions. The program encourages children to learn through play and expects children to get dirty.

• Ages: 2–6 years old
• Schedule: Phone contact available Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. PST

A Place of My Own has been nurturing and educating children in Napa for over 40 years. The program is designed to develop a child’s sense of independence and responsibility, and it offers a developmentally appropriate program that gives children an environment for success and encourages them to learn through play. The center is run by an Executive Director and a parent Board of Directors, and APOMO is a 501(c) non-profit organization. They seek out well-educated and experienced teachers with a passion for working with young children.

They depend on personal parent participation from APOMO families and ask for a minimum of 5 hours of parent participation per school year. Parent participation can include activities such as flipping burgers at their annual fundraiser, planting in their garden, and donating snack items or supplies for their curriculum. They hold bi-monthly Board Meetings, and parents are encouraged to attend.
