About
Matias Martial Arts After School Program offers martial arts training that includes Taekwondo, Boxing, Kickboxing, Mixed Martial Arts, and self defense. Students also take part in a character development lesson as part of the program. Classes take place in a martial arts studio setting at the Matias Martial Arts academy/center.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Pick ups available Monday–Friday at all NVUSD locations, with parent pick up any time before 6:30pm; staff is available during class hours 3:00pm–8:00pm, Monday–Friday
The program is a transported after school program that serves as an alternative option to other programs or daycares. It offers pick ups to all schools within Napa city limits using the program’s own transportation vehicles and dedicated, professional drivers who have had background checks. Activities in this program are not child care as defined by the state of California. The service is available for students in 1st–12th grade. The program gives kids a physical outlet after a long day at school and teaches them the value of fitness in a safe and fun setting, offers an alternative to going home to an empty home, and is a place where kids can share experiences while learning something new. Many kids who attend the programs end up becoming close friends. Space is limited, and prospective participants are encouraged to reach out by phone or email to secure a spot.
The program includes a transformative life skills curriculum designed for both children and adults and is offered in a positive training environment that fosters growth. It is part of Matias Martial Arts, which focuses on keeping the community physically and mentally healthy through martial arts. The center’s mission includes empowering the community through martial arts and helping students of all ages and skill levels achieve their fitness and self-improvement goals.
The leadership team includes Mr. Francisco Matias as Owner and Head Coach, Mr. Matias as Owner, and Mrs. Beatriz as the after school coordinator and front desk contact. The Owner/Head Coach has over 20 years of teaching experience, holds a 5th Dan in Taekwondo, has multiple state championships, and has trained national and state champions. He is a Certified USA Taekwondo Coach, a Certified AAU Taekwondo Coach, Head Coach of the USA Amateur Boxing team, and a USA Boxing certified coach.
