Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley Afterschool & Summer Programs is led by Youth Development Professionals in safe, supervised environments. The organization has been helping families across the Santa Clarita Valley since 1968 and states that ensuring the safety of children is fundamental to its mission. It is part of over 5,500 Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide and works with community partners and donors who support families, strengthen neighborhoods, and help youth build confidence and life skills. The program operates 13 local clubs across the Santa Clarita Valley, including 4 full-service Clubhouses and 9 school-based sites, with transportation from many local schools to public clubs, and offers programs that are safe, affordable, and available year-round.
At elementary school sites, programs begin as young as Kindergarten, with ages served at the James T. Ventress Clubhouse and Thomas E. Dierckman Clubhouse listed as 7–17, and the Castaic Clubhouse serving 7th grade and up. Safety measures include a confidential, 24-hour Child Safety Hotline operated with Praesidium (866-607-SAFE), zero tolerance for misconduct of any kind, annual background checks for all staff and board members, mandatory reporting and strict supervision policies, prohibition of one-on-one interactions between staff and members, and ongoing safety training and emergency preparedness. The organization also hosts an annual benefit auction called “Step Into the Sweet Life,” a La Dolce Vita–themed night with cocktails, dinner, and silent and live auctions.
