About
Placerita Programs includes Bird Walks, Books & Hikes, Blooms of the Season, Family Nature Walk, Placerita Nature Tots, Community Nature Education Series, and Walker Cabin Tours. Placerita Nature Tots is for ages 3 to 6 and includes learning about the environment during a 45-minute to one-hour program. Other activities include native plant walks, an easy one-hour family walk, monthly bird walks, a public educational series, and tours of the historic Walker Cabin.
Programs
- Bird Walks — First Saturday of every month; 8:00 AM March-November and 9:00 AM December-February · With Ellen Coleman the first Saturday of every month and with Ken Yasukawa the second Saturday of every month. Bring binoculars, water, and a field guide.
- Books & Hikes — 4th Sunday of the month at 9AM September through May; 8AM June through August · To register please email [email protected]. See flyer below for a list of upcoming books.
- Blooms of the Season — 4th Saturday of every month at 9:00AM · Learn about native plants with RuthAnne Murthy. Meet on the patio for a one-hour stroll. Bring your camera and questions.
- Family Nature Walk — Every Saturday from 11AM to noon · With Judy McClure. An easy 1-hour walk exploring the natural and cultural history of the area.
- Placerita Nature Tots — 3-6 · Second Saturday of the month at 9:30AM · Program lasts 45 minutes to one hour and will involve learning about the environment. Registration starts on the first of the month. Space is limited. To register: [email protected]
- Community Nature Education Series — Every 3rd Sunday of the month at 2PM · Free educational program open to the public.
- Walker Cabin Tours — Regular hours Tue-Fri 9:00-12:00; Sat 10:00-2:00; Sun 10:00-12:00. Summer hours begin 1st Saturday in June and end 1st Saturday in September: Tue-Fri 9:00-12:00; Sat 8:30-12:30; Sun 10:00-12:00 · The historic Walker Cabin is open for tours. When temperatures are above 90 degrees the cabin will be closed.
