Camp James Summer Day Camp offers activities such as Archery, Go Carts, Rock Climbing, Kayak, Arts & Crafts, Dance, Sports, and Swimming. Each day, campers have 4 activities, including at least one water activity. Staff use camp-only nicknames such as Legend, Cocoa, Northshore, Koda, and Grey Squirrel.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: Weekly sessions from June 8–August 14, 2026, with camp hours 9:00 am–4:00 pm and a grace period from 8:30–9:00 am and 4:00–4:30 pm

Camp James Summer Day Camp has operated for over 30 years and has been described as the most popular and trusted summer day camp in Orange County. The camp is accredited through the American Camp Association and has been voted the #1 Day Camp in Newport Beach. The directors are described as educated, experienced, and dedicated professionals.
Camp groups are co-ed and organized by age, and the camp does not overfill its groups. Parents can select their own schedule so campers attend only on the weeks they choose, and the camp encourages children to attend at least 2 weeks of the summer. All activities take place on the camp grounds, and the camp is a cell free environment that requests campers leave cell phones, watches, and tablets at home. The camp states that campers in Leadership Training are part of the program. The camp notes that campers may come home dirty and tired.
An adult needs to check in each camper every day and pick up each day using a pick up code. Families may use a Drive Thru Drop Off or walk the child in each morning, and late arrivals must be checked in and escorted to their group, which may be far from base camp. The camp charges extra after 4:30 pm. The camp’s philosophy is “Be Kind” – to each other, the environment, and the campgrounds.
