The Dance Complex

The Dance Complex offers dance classes and week-long drop-off dance camps that include Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Acro Dance. The program also offers Summer Camp options and themed week-long drop-off dance camps.

The Dance Complex is owned and directed by Kate McDonald. Since opening in January 2006 as The Dance Academy at Costa Mesa, The Dance Complex has offered dance instruction in a nurturing environment to dancers 2.5 years and older. The program includes Stars Programs for ages 2.5–5 and Summer Camps for ages 3 and up.

The Dance Complex states its mission as “Experience the joy of dance!” The program offers a Spring Showcase on May 31, 2026 featuring Daddy-Daughter dances and a Winter Showcase in December 2026 featuring holiday music favorites. Students have an opportunity to perform on a real stage, in front of a real audience, with professional lighting.

One parent shared that their family has been with The Dance Complex for almost a year, with children ages 3, 5, and 10 participating, and mentioned positive experiences with instructors including Ms. Megan, Ms. Hollis, and Ms. Dani, as well as timely help with sign-ups and questions. Another parent, Leslie Long, described the shows as professional, with unique and age-appropriate songs, outfits, and choreography, and noted that their child was excited to perform on a real stage with professional lighting.
