About
Roseshell's Roundup Foundational Horsemanship Program introduces students to horsemanship, riding, understanding equine communication, full horse care, and basic training. The program also offers Ranch Management & Horse Care, a non-riding group program, and Horsey Hang Out, a non-riding program. All prospective students are required to schedule a Meet & Greet appointment to tour Roseshell's Roundup ranch facility and meet the horses and instructors.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Ranch hours Tuesday–Friday roughly late morning to late afternoon, and Saturdays during the day
The program operates during ranch hours listed as Tuesday–Friday from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm, with the ranch closed on Sunday and Monday. Roseshell's Roundup states that its curriculum goes beyond just riding and notes that it is adaptable for students of all ages and abilities, including non-verbal students and those with physical disabilities, and that it prioritizes safety and individual needs. The program is described as welcoming and inclusive, with an emphasis on personal growth and self-discovery through the beauty and challenge of ranch life.
Roseshell Weaver, also referred to as Miss Roseshell, is the founder of Roseshell's Roundup and has worked with the special needs community throughout her career. The program notes that it is an approved vendor with Heartland Charter School and Tri-Counties Regional Center. Roseshell's Roundup highlights that it can be a good fit for those considering owning a horse someday or working in the equine or ranch industry. The program shares two favorite quotes: “A great horse will change your life. The truly special ones define it...” (unknown) and “If there are no horses in heaven, then there's no heaven for me.” (Roseshell Weaver).
