Marin Pottery is a community ceramics studio serving Marin County and the Bay Area and is described as an inviting and inclusive environment. The studio hosts 8 electric pottery wheels, two electric kilns, a clay extruder, a slab roller, membership cupboards to keep items safe, a glaze area, underglazes, and clay tools, and it is designed to welcome people morning, noon, or night. The program offers adult and kid classes in wheel-throwing, hand-building, and intro classes, along with monthly workshops and three tiers of membership (Bronze, Silver, Gold) that include access to wheels, the slab roller, glazes, shared tools, and firing, plus storage options and a monthly workshop depending on the tier. Marin Pottery also hosts 1–2 market days where members and students can share and sell their work.
Marin Pottery was started by Kebby McInroy, who has been working with clay since high school and received instruction from a professional production potter. She and her team have taught thousands of people, from young children to adults, about clay over the last two decades, including through classes that have served many of Marin County’s public schools, private schools, and community centers. Marin Pottery states that it came to be out of a pure passion for ceramics, community, and clay, and describes clay as a way for adults to step away, refocus, reground, and reconnect.
