North Bay Children’s Center Programs include a Summer Camp that offers gardening, music, weekly field trips, and Water Play Friday as part of a fun filled, theme based, weekly program. Each day of Summer Camp includes activities such as gardening, music, weekly field trips, and Water Play Friday.
North Bay Children’s Center programs have been operating since 1988 and have 38 years of experience preparing children for success. The organization provides high quality, affordable child care and innovative child development programs to more than 650 Marin and Sonoma families. North Bay Children’s Center provides 4,410 hours of child care annually for single and working parents and serves 303,000 healthy meals to children across 14 school sites each year. It is described as a 501(c)(3) Certified Organization, and 100% of NBCC graduates have proficiencies needed to enter kindergarten.
Laurel leads all financial strategy, contract management, budgeting, and planning at North Bay Children’s Center and brings more than eight years of nonprofit finance and accounting expertise, with a master’s degree in public administration from the University of San Francisco and dual bachelor’s degrees in business/accounting and political science from Dominican University of California. Marin Area Director Donje Fields has over 7 years of experience in early childhood education and holds a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development. Area Director Leydis Mata brings over 25 years of experience in early childhood education and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Pacific Oaks College. Enrollment Manager Irma Mendoza has over 13 years of experience in early childhood education. Emily serves as Hanson Bridgett’s Assistant General Counsel and sits on the board of North Bay Children’s Center. Board member Beth Wolk is a retired elementary school administrator and child care center director with over 17 years of leadership experience in education and has served on the board for the past 8 years. Jeanne holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Santa Clara University, a California Teaching Credential from the University of San Francisco, and has served on the Resource Development Committee of the Board at North Bay Children’s Center for six years. Steven Leonard is a Managing Director at Cushman & Wakefield and holds a BA and MBA in real estate land use affairs/urban geography from California State University Sacramento.
North Bay Children’s Center provides child care and early education across sites in Novato, Petaluma, Rohnert Park, Santa Rosa, Healdsburg, and Sonoma. Emily also sits on the board of other nonprofits, serves as a volunteer Court Appointed Judicial Advocate supporting foster youth, and is a Parks and Recreation Commissioner in Corte Madera. Jeanne has been active in fundraising efforts for several Marin nonprofits focusing on the needs of children in the community and continues to volunteer in Sonoma Valley.
Parent feedback about North Bay Children’s Center includes comments from families with children in the programs. One parent shared that her son has been attending the After School program for over a year and that she appreciates the curriculum and the academic and social skills he is learning. Another parent described the staff as showing care and concern for both child and family during a difficult time. A first-time mother reported that her daughter comes home singing new songs, practicing better manners, and talking about how special her teachers make her feel.
