About
Sandcastle Theater Company Drama Programs focus on new play development and education programs where students work together to write and put on a completely original play. Participants take part in games and activities, learn about story creation, character development, acting, and production design, and participate in a final performance. Students also workshop their plays through play development and developmental readings, and some collaborate with professional theatre artists to bring their plays to life in a one-night-only performance as part of Emerging Voices productions of new short plays by Marin School of the Arts writers performed by an ensemble of professional actors.
• Schedule: Over the course of 6 months, students receive coaching, feedback, and support to develop their new plays; Emerging Voices 2026 is scheduled for Thursday, March 12th at 7pm
• Price: 20% of drama families opt in to a sliding scale option that allows all families to participate, no questions asked; Fall Drama Programs in 2025 are providing over $6,000 in fee waivers, and the Flexible Pricing Program includes fee waivers, sliding scale, and payment plans
Sandcastle Theater Company Drama Programs offer after school programs in Davis, Piedmont, and Petaluma. The organization states a mission of nurturing new plays, growing a broader theater community, and creating accessible opportunities for people to gather and experience original stories. Community involvement includes Emerging Voices productions presented in collaboration with Marin School of the Arts writers and an ensemble of professional actors, along with previous play workshop productions and developmental readings that have included works by Creative Writing students at Marin School of the Arts and Theater students at Ruth Asawa School of the Arts. All donations to support the programs are tax-deductible via Fractured Atlas. One family shared that Sandcastle Theater Company made a huge impact on their sons, tapping into their older son's creativity and problem solving skills, instilling higher self confidence, serving as an outlet for his anxiety, and providing what they described as a safe haven of safety and inclusion during chaotic and unsettling times in the community and abroad.
