Each Z-Ultimate Self Defense Studios instructor is hand-picked and trained by the Board of Masters through ZUUMAP – Z-Ultimate University of Martial Arts Professionals – where they undergo rigorous training in the Classical, Tactical and Practical aspects of the Ultimate Kenpo System, and instructors continue to train each week under the tutelage of the Board of Masters. The program follows a Code of Conduct for dojo behavior and safety, including removing street shoes before entering, not wearing jewelry during class or practice, and turning off or silencing all cell phones and electronic devices. Full uniforms are required for all classes and testing, uniforms must be clean and odorless, black uniforms may be worn starting at the rank of Purple Belt, black and white uniforms may not be mixed by students, and all uniforms and t-shirts must display the Z-Ultimate Self Defense Studios logo. Full safety equipment is required for all students while sparring, including headgear, gloves, forearm and shin pads, foot protection and a mouthpiece, and groin protectors are required for all male students. The organization states that every staff and support member are martial artists and train actively. Z-Ultimate Self Defense Studios describes its mission as inspiring the men, women, and children of its communities to realize their personal best through the timeless traditions of the martial arts in an environment built upon respect, health and happiness. The program identifies itself as one of the largest martial arts companies of its kind, with locations on the West Coast and the Midwest, and offers what it calls World-Class Personalized Martial Arts Classes and Instruction using a Dynamic Mastery Method of instruction and the Ultimate Kempo system, described as a dynamic blend of Karate, Kung Fu, and Jiu Jitsu, with Classical, Practical, and Tactical aspects.
