Aurora School has been a progressive education trailblazer in the Bay Area since 1988 and describes its camps as “Small Camps with Big Heart.” For thirty-five years, Aurora has used an approach that integrates social-emotional learning throughout its curriculum and uses multi-grade classrooms with looping (K/1, 2/3, 4/5). Creators & Explorers is run by Aurora staff trained in social-emotional learning, and Theater Arts Camp is guided by Aurora faculty, staff, and alumni counselors. TechKnowHow has been running STEM-focused programs for youth for 29 years and offers LEGO and Engineering camps that are STEM-focused, educational and fun, in long partnership with Aurora.
Aurora School's mission is to nurture students' love of learning by cultivating academic excellence, emotional intelligence, and social engagement. All summer camps are open to both the Aurora community and non-Aurora families, and limited Counselor-in-Training (CIT) spots for grades 7–12 are available for Creators & Explorers and Theater Arts Camp. Aurora focuses on academic excellence, joy of learning, inclusivity, and a commitment to social justice, and is launching a Transitional Kindergarten program in Fall 2026 in collaboration with the Mills College Children's School community.
Morning Care allows drop-off as early as 8:30am at no extra charge, and After Care is available until 5pm for those who pre-register. COVID policies require symptomatic and/or exposed campers to complete an at-home rapid test before returning to camp, and campers testing positive for COVID must stay home until a negative test result. The deadline to request any refund is May 1, 2026, and all tuition becomes non-refundable after May 1.
