• Price: All camp weeks available at $555.

Mr. D's Music Club started with one week of summer camp in 2011. The program describes itself as a collaborative, arts-based community that brings Teaching Artists and curious kids together to “Keep Kids Inspired.” It offers a Performing Arts Summer Camp where kids participate in a full group performance at the end of each week for friends and family, and each week introduces a fresh theme. No previous experience or formal training is required, and there is a Jr LIT & LIT Program for ages 13 and 14. The program also offers Creative Spaces live online creative arts programs, focuses on creativity over perfection, describes its environment as inclusive and supportive, and notes that financial aid is available.

Stephen Duffy, owner of Mr. D's Music Club, is an award-winning singer/songwriter, composer, and producer who has been in and around the music business for more than twenty years. He has a long creative history in the music industry in Britain and California, has recorded and/or produced over a hundred albums, and has been commissioned to compose for theater, dance, and video. He also served as a Music Director at several schools throughout the Bay Area for 10 years.

Mr. D's Music Club notes that its summer camps are award-winning and are described as being designed for kids to explore new creative outlets while having a blast. The program has been proudly recognized by Oakland and East Bay families since 2014, and it has been connected with the Hooligans Soccer Cup, an annual soccer tournament that raised money for children's charities around the world.

Parent testimonials describe music as a core part of one child’s “resilience and spark” and say that Mr. D's Music Club gave her “a community of creatives to immerse herself in, and a stage for performance.” Another parent reports that with the opportunity to be included in a theatrical musical production, their son “cultivated self-awareness, self-confidence, positive self-image, and accountability.” One testimonial describes “the vibe of the camp” as “sweet & inclusive, embracing imperfection, encouraging kids of all backgrounds & abilities, and allowing them all to shine in lovely, silly fun.” Another parent says that “Mr. D literally gives everything he has to his students and classes,” mentions “a little bit of everything offered in the Creative Spaces, from singing to dancing, and all different genres of music,” and notes that their kids enjoy spending time with Mr. D and meeting new people from home.
