Girls Inc. of Alameda County Programs

Girls Inc. of Alameda County Programs offers School-Year Elementary Programs, the All STARS Program, WE LEAD, Eureka!, ACT, HEART, HER, Concordia Park Summer Camp, Eureka! Summer Program, Health Empowerment & Leadership (HEAL), and the Expanded Learning Apprenticeship Program. Program activities include daily homework help, hands-on technology activities, leadership curriculum, field trips, health and wellness education, hands-on STEAM, paid internships, sports and fitness, college campus visits, academic support, scholarship guidance, social systems study, communication and research skills, healthy relationships learning, swimming, and art or media projects.

Programs

• School-Year Elementary Programs — Offered in Oakland Schools including Allendale, Bella Vista, Bridges Academy, Burckhalter, Horace Mann, Learning Without Limits, and Prescott.
• All STARS Program — 6th - 8th grade · M/T/Th, 3:30-6pm; Wed, 1-6pm at Simpson Center; M/F, 3:30-5:30; W, 1:30-5:30pm at Westlake; M/F, 3:30-5:30; W, 1:30-3:30pm at Frick · Girls-only space with daily homework help, hands-on technology activities, field trips, confidence-building, leadership, and friendships.
• WE LEAD Program — 6th - 9th grade · Once weekly · Leadership curriculum with strength-building activities, discussions on leadership styles and allyship, field trips, and health and wellness education.
• Eureka! Program — 8th - 12th grade · 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM for 8th-10th grade; 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM for 11th-12th grade · Year-round program with leadership and confidence-building, field trips, hands-on STEAM, paid internships, sports and fitness, college campus visits, academic support, and scholarship guidance.
• ACT Program — 9th - 12th grade · Thursdays, 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM · Youth learn about social systems and develop leadership, communication, research, and relationship-building skills.
• HEART Program — 9th - 12th grade · Tuesdays, 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM · Builds health, literacy, and decision-making skills related to bodies, relationships, and overall well-being.
• HER Program — 9th - 12th grade · Wednesdays, 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM · Learns what healthy relationships look like, from platonic to romantic and everywhere in between, beginning with the relationship with oneself.
• Concordia Park Summer Camp — Rising 1st - 7th grade
• Eureka! Summer Program — Rising 8th - 9th grade · Mon-Fri, 9:00 AM - 2:45 PM · Free summer program with STEM, high school preparation, swimming and sports, Friday field trips, and stipend for attendance and participation.
• Health Empowerment & Leadership (HEAL) — Rising 9th - 12th grade · Tue-Thu, 1 PM - 4 PM; Fridays, 10 AM - 4 PM · Teens learn about health rights, gaps in health services, and build skills through a supportive space, with weekly Friday field trips and an art or media project.
• Expanded Learning Apprenticeship Program — 18+ Years Old · Work availability from 1-6pm Monday-Friday; morning class availability (in-person) · Earn-and-learn apprenticeship with paid work experience, free tuition for college-level courses, and training and mentorship in Expanded Learning/After School Programs.

Girls Inc. of Alameda County was founded in 1958 and has served girls and their allies for over 65 years. Its mission is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. The organization is a nonprofit serving Oakland and the East Bay, and it supports girls and their allies through mentoring relationships, skill-building activities, intentional and compensatory programming, sustained exposure, research-based curricula, and a pro-girl environment.
